AI Assessment Policy

A.I. is an emergent technology that can be a threat, but it also gives us plenty of opportunities.

We can create awesome poetry, pictures and help with our formatting. In Freyberg Digital Technology we implore students to use A.I. to help aid with learning.

However we have some rules about what you can use AI for in terms of assessment.

They will be listed below
Picture

For an assessment are allowed to

  • Use AI to help with Idea Generation/Inspiration
  • Use AI to help spell check
  • Use AI to help with formatting
  • Use AI to help diagnose problems with Code
  • Use AI to assist you learning skills/techniques
  • Minimally use generative AI to assist any outcome you have made. But you must ensure that you have demonstrated your own skill in at least 80% of the work.
  • Use AI to help you understand terms in your assessment

For an assessment you are not allowed to

  • Generate entire HTML, CSS pages, programming sheets.
  • Generate more then 10% of any of your written content
  • Generate the entirety of media content using AI.
  • Generate Code Comments
  • Generate more than 20% of your illustrations.

With most assessments we need to assess your skill, if AI replaces the skill that we need to assess, then we would have to say that your assessment was not authentic.

Work that is not authentic would receive a not achieved grade.

How will we know?

We will be checking your term work along side AI checkers to ensure that your results are accurate.

If in doubt, ask a teacher.
